We visited Mother at her nursing home in the hopes of raising her
spirits. We brought lots of photos of her first grandson, Michael
Wesley, and she got great satisfaction from them. We had already
sent several, and Carolyn had put them in a notebook for her. We
got some pins and hung a selection on her corkboard so she could see
them all the time. She was very proud of them. Her first
words were, "I wish I could get my hands on that baby!" We also watched
her do her physical therapy. She was very diligent, just as she
was with everything in life. By the time we left, we had the
feeling that she was feeling a bit encouraged -- at least we certainly
hoped so.
